Pricer Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) paired with a unique software platform have revolutionized how retailers operate, giving them the power to update prices with a simple click. This ensures that customers always see the correct price, while simultaneously freeing up valuable staff time from the tedious task of manually replacing price tags. The connected ESLs enable retailers to reduce food waste, replenish in time, and create efficiency throughout the store.
Once installed, the ESL functions for up to 10 years, providing value every day. Right now, ESLs rely on single-use batteries, creating both operational and environmental challenges.
But what if we could take this a step further?
The long opening hours and bright light of retail stores, combined with the sheer amount of ESLs, make them an ideal partner for the ENLIGHTENED project, which aims to develop photovoltaic technology for low-power, low-light applications.
The project wants to demonstrate the technology's viability in property technology, consumer electronics, and retail, where Pricer plays a key role. Pricer has a vision of developing products that will last for a long time with a minimal environmental impact. Therefore, Pricer will implement the new manufacturing technology into their ESL, creating a prototype that will operate on low-light power instead of disposable batteries. Initially, Pricer will contribute to requirements and specifications, including product dimensions, environmental conditions, and power and energy constraints.
Pricer's journey begins by laying the groundwork, providing the ENLIGHTENED team with real-world requirements and specifications. By collaborating with other integrators, we're building a practical, realistic framework to ensure this innovation delivers tangible results.
Ultimately, we will develop a new, battery-free ESL. After rigorous internal testing, we will deploy it in a real-world store, providing invaluable feedback that will shape the next generation of sustainable retail technology.
